REBUILDERS CHOIR

Who We Are: The Rebuilders Choir exists to improve the lives of children by encouraging their God-given talents while rebuilding their self esteem. The choir uses singing as a means of uplifting talent, raising self-confidence, education, rebuilding lives, advocacy and fundraising

  • Identifying and uplifting talent – We recognize that God has given each child a unique talent and we work to develop that individually and collectively. The choir members are gifted in singing and dancing and we work to encourage them to develop these gifts and use them to glorify God.
  • Raising self-confidence and rehabilitation – Children enter our care lacking much self esteem after living on the streets. Performing in the choir allows them to be proud of their own abilities and helps them to build self confidence.
  • Advocacy – The choir performs songs that educate its listeners to the plight of street children. Choir members also have the opportunity to share short testimonies at the beginning and end of performances to raise awareness in the community.
  • Fundraising – Donations are made at each choir performance and information about becoming a sponsor or donor is given out. Crafts, CDs and DVDs are also for sale at performances.

What We Do: The 25-member choir performs at local churches and other venues to raise awareness, educate listeners and raise funds. All proceeds from choir performances go towards costs of food, housing and education for the children on the Dwelling Places program. The choir performs a combination of gospel and educative pieces in a unique contemporary percussion style.

The choir will start travelling internationally next year as churches host performances in the UK. This choir will take the vision of Dwelling Places to the UK, US and Canada.
