Overview of Programs and Services
Dwelling Places operates a holistic care approach to enable us achieve our vision. The eventual aim is to enable each child to find a safe and loving family and a place to call home. Through all our programs, we work with the child, their family and the community and holistically deal with the underlying individual issues that prompted their abnormal childhood. Over the 10 years of our existence, about 925 children have gone through these programs.
Our original 4-R approach consists of four steps:
In 2010, we added a fifth R (Rebuild) to the 4-R approach through the Youth Rebuilders Program, a sustainable vocation program designed to prepare children 15 years and above for a skilled livelihood after Dwelling Places. Our ROKSCADIF program is specifically developed to address the resettlement needs of Karamojong street children and families. Finally, we have the DwellPlus, the social enterprise arm of Dwelling Places.
In addition to these long term programs, Dwelling Places takes the opportunity to actively involve itself alongside sister organizations in organizing events and services around the year.
Dwelling Places also conducts what we collectively refer to as services to complete a holistic picture for the street children and address the society for funds, volunteers and awareness. Find out more about the different wings of Dwelling Places and the services they offer here.
